Crispy Chicken Dippers

These are my go to when I’m fresh out of ideas for dinner. We just never get bored of these homemade crispy chicken delights. They’re super easy to make and once you’ve had these at home, no other shop bought chicken dippers will ever do.

You can add as much or as little ‘heat’ to these as you like, we like ours super spicy as usual because they go great with garlic mayo or with creamy potatoes as part of a meal (You can watch how I make those here https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2ywh7z-sXGo ).

If you’re not a fan of deep frying you can simply bake the coated strips in the oven until cooked through, simply drizzle a little oil over the top and bake at 220 degrees for 25-30 minutes until they’re cooked through. They won’t be as crispy but they’ll still be delicious!

Crispy Chicken Dippers

Serves: 4 Prep Time: 15 Mins Cooking Time: 20 Mins

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 1.5 cups plain flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • water to mix batter
  • 4-5 slices of bread
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Mix all seasonings with the flour.
  2. Stir in enough water to make flour into batter.
  3. Blitz the slices of bread in processor to make fine breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat each of the chicken strips first in the batter and then in the breadcrumbs and place in a tray to rest for a few minutes.
  5. Heat oil to medium heat and deep fry the chicken strips in batches for approx 4 minutes or until cooked through.
  6. Drain and serve with a garlic mayo or peri mayo dip. Yum!
