Every family has their own version of basaar. It’s a blend of all the spices that usually go into a curry and every family recipe is as individual as a fingerprint. My mum never used a full basaar in her cooking but she did use this red chilli version. It’s the one thing that set her (and now my) curries apart from everyone else’s.

So if you have your own way of making curries and you want to elevate their flavour then a spoonful of this blend instead of your usual red chilli powder, will do the trick. Ingredients: Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric, Paprika, Coriander, Cumin,  Ground Lentils, Salt, Ground Fennel, Bay Leaves, Fenugreek, Ground Cassia, Ground Cloves, Garlic Powder.
