Every family has their own version of basaar. It’s a blend of all the spices that usually go into a curry and every family recipe is as individual as a fingerprint. My mum never used a full basaar in her cooking but she did use this red chilli version. It’s the one thing that set her (and now my) curries apart from everyone else’s.
So if you have your own way of making curries and you want to elevate their flavour then a spoonful of this blend instead of your usual red chilli powder, will do the trick. Or, if you have a copy of my book Salan Roti and you never got around to making this up for yourself, then here you go… You can now follow my exact recipes, you’re welcome 🙂
